The Back Story

Fin Fuller, the founder of Vale Industrial Design

Welcome to the story behind Vale Industrial Design.

I’m Fin, and in November 2024, I stepped away from employment as a Mechanical Design Engineer. At this point in my career, I had worked for an engineering consultancy and two engineering/manufacturing firms. The latter two companies were very different in size, as well as the products they produced. However, as an engineer working across multiple disciplines, I noticed some key similarities in the issues and problems that were faced on a day to day basis concerning the design and manufacturing process. This often had a direct impact on the quality of the product produced, and stifled innovation.

I started to dabble with the idea of starting something for myself. My drive to learn and push to create genuinely great products within the industrial sector has never left me. This, paired with the abililty to combat the issues mentioned earlier, provided immense motivation to start something.

So, in 2025 Vale Industrial Design was born. A process driven company that aims to put honesty, communication and planning, at the same level of importance as the quality of its technical solutions. Promoting continuous improvement, Vale Industrial Design puts learning from failure and flexibility right at the heart of its ethos, resulting in an agile operation, ready for change when required.

The Vale Industrial Vision

Vale Industrial Design wants to help future-proof the UK as a hub for development and innovation. A large focus for the business is to restore faith in innovators and visionaries that this country can be a key player in emerging technologies and bringing new products to market. The rise of rapid prototyping and fabrication agencies in Asia has brought incredible, low cost solutions to the world of product development. I believe these solutions work incredibly well where the specification is completely understood and there’s a low level of ambiguity.

I want to target the area of engineering and design that’s often overlooked, something that can be described as the ever widening “hole” that is being left within the industry. Human connection, quality communication and proper understanding.

This is where Vale Industrial Design comes into its own. Alongside lean processes, continuous improvement and strategy, an emphasis is put on human connection and communication. The core elements of people working alongside eachother and problem solving supports instinctive human connection, which is crucial for: motivation, successful partnerships and trust.
